I was visiting my father in Florida a few years ago, and one afternoon we were having lunch. Our conversation touched on many subjects and then turned to religion. He said, “I’m not sure if I ever told you,” and he began relating a story back when I was about seven years old.
My father has worked in various aspects of the car business for most of his life. One day he was under the hood of a car, working on the engine when it backfired and shot flames out of the carburetor and he caught fire.
I went to confession the other day and was given penance of saying the prayer for priestly vocations. I was inspired to share and I’m Including it below.
A few months ago I began developing chest pain. Nothing serious but noticeable. Over the next few days, this pain intensified so I gave it a bit more attention. There is history of heart issues in my family so I thought that might be a possibility. I practice martial arts on a regular basis so I thought maybe I just pulled a muscle. I didn’t panic but kept an open mind as to what might be going on. But “what could it be” was a persistent thought in the back of my mind?
While reading a few articles reaction to “Amoris Laetita,” “The Joy Of Love” by Pope Francis, I was struck by one mention, “individual conscience educated in church teaching must guide their decisions.” Which took me to my life before my reversion back to the church.
